Mini Tooth Implants compare to. Regular Tooth Implants
Are you hiding your smile because of unsightly gaps between your front and back teeth? Do your front teeth appear to be missing or badly damaged? If so, then Tooth Implants could be the only permanent solution for your dental issues.
Tooth Implants are also referred to as fake teeth, are implanted into the jawbone to support prosthetic teeth or bridges. They are generally constructed of titanium (a metal that is easily accepted by our body).
Implants can repair any number of teeth starting from one tooth to an entire arch, helping you regain your smile, and allowing you to talk, eat and even laugh with confidence and ease.
There are two kinds of implants you need to consider if you’re seriously thinking of replacing your missing teeth. These are the Mini Tooth Implants and the traditional. Each type comes in a different size and size.
Traditional Implant Devices
Over the past three decades implants have been used to replace missing teeth. Implants of this type are utilized to replace a missing or decayed tooth, multiple teeth, a bridge or full denture. The type of implant may also be used to keep removable dentures in their place. Endosteal (in the bone), Subperiosteal (in the bone) and Plate form are the four main types of implants employed in today’s implant dentistry.
This type of tooth implantation utilizes a small screw to connect the jawbone using a tiny cut into the gum tissue. After a few weeks, when the jawbone is fully healed and the implant has been bonded to bone, a dental crown will be placed over the implant. The entire procedure produces a fresh bright smile that is most natural-looking prosthetic teeth that feel and work like your own teeth.
Mini Tooth Implants
Similar to traditional Tooth Implants Mini Tooth Implants are used to repair lost teeth. They are mainly used to replace front teeth, pre-molars, small teeth and teeth situated in a narrow space.
The head of the titanium screw that is single-piece is shaped as a tiny ball. The tiny titanium screw’s head is made from one O-ring made of rubber, which lets it attach to the tooth socket, or denture.
The Difference Between Regular and Mini Tooth Implants
A mini implant is thinner than a regular one. The diameter of mini Tooth Implants is generally between 1.8mm to 2.9mm compared to 4mm to 6mm for traditional implants. Because they are small the MDI can be placed in locations in which there is significant bone loss.
The typical implant is comprised of three components: the titanium material screw, the abutment and crown. MDIs however, on the contrary on the other hand, are a narrow body, single-piece titanium devices.
- The typical screws are hollow in the middle, while the mini implant is a solid piece.
- Unlike the traditional implants, only the ball-shaped part of the mini implant sticks out of the gums.
Implant placement can be a lengthy and invasive procedure. The titanium screw, or false root, is first inserted into the jawbone. After a period of healing that lasts several days, the implant connects to bone. Abutments are placed over the portion of the implant. A crown, the topmost portion of the restoration is then inserted. The whole procedure is completed in several phases over about a month. Mini implants however are fixed by making a pilot hole in the jaw bone. It is not necessary to make incisions. The procedure can be completed within a single session within as little as two hours.
The cost involved in mini Dental Implants are much lower than regular implants. A mini Tooth Implant can cost up to 60 percent less than a standard one.
